In this Issue: upcoming changes to parents.wfu.edu
Happy August, Deac families! The good news is I got my ’27 moved into their off-campus residence near NC State. The bad news is that I messed up my rotator cuff during the lifting of heavy things, so my arm is sore today, and may take 4-6 weeks to heal according to my orthopedist. So to all who might be approaching move-in: be smarter than I was and leave the heavy stuff to the young people :)
Today’s blog will be extra brief: it’s about some web adjustments you will see in the next two weeks on parents.wfu.edu.
As of July 1st, we rolled to a new fiscal year (as our calendar runs July 1-June 30). But as of August 1st, with move-in and Orientation just a couple short weeks away, we also roll into a new academic year in terms of navigating the Parents and Families website. Here are some of those changes:
Our Incoming Families page is being updated to refer to families of Early Decision students in the Class of 2030, who will start at Wake Forest in fall 2026. I expect we’ll start seeing the first Early Decision-admitted ’30 students sometime in early fall, so we are starting to prep the page now so we are ready for them when they get their acceptance letters.
Our First-Year Families page will be updated for our P’29 families whose students will start in the fall of 2025. Note that this page is really not active until the first day of classes (August 22), as currently all P’29 information is on our New Students website section for families. Once school begins, we will run a weekly message about some aspect of the college transition that might be germane to your first-year students, and I will reference those in the Daily Deac.
Starting August 23, all P’29s will want to stop using the New Students website altogether.
