In this Issue:

It has been unpleasantly hot for October: it has been in the high 80s for a couple of days – which begs me to bring out one of my favorite jokes:

12 Seasons of NC - Second summer: you are here

The forecast says it will be a high of 86 tomorrow and then drop to a high of 61 and 62 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Those kinds of weather changes often seem to spur on fall colds, so extra hand washing or hand sanitizer may be the way to go.

I have been in meetings nearly nonstop today, so just two short items for you today.

Early voting information

In today’s WFU Should Know, we shared information about early voting options for students:

“Make Your Voice Heard: Early Voting Begins Oct. 15! Early Voting runs Oct. 15–31, and Deacs Decide is making it easier for students to get to the polls! Wake Forest will provide free transportation from ZSR Circle to Polo Park Community Center, the closest Early Voting site to campus, on select dates. Eligible students can register to vote, update their registration and cast their ballot during Early Voting. Before heading to the polls, check your voter registration status, bring your DeaconOne Card as a valid photo ID and, if registering or updating your registration, a hard copy of your proof of residency. Check your email for a message from Dr. Shea with transportation schedules, voting hours and additional resources to help you make a plan!”

As I tell my students, I care that they vote (who they vote for is up to them).

Inauguration of President Rodriguez

Please encourage your students to register to participate in the inauguration of our 15th president, Dr. Peter Rodriguez. On Friday, Oct. 30, the Wake Forest community will gather in Wait Chapel for the installation ceremony for President Rodriguez. Following the ceremony, students, faculty, and staff are invited to return to Hearn Plaza for an elevated evening of joy and celebration at 6:30 p.m.

Inaugurations are a lot of fun – and something students don’t often get to experience. So I hope we’ll see at lot of them in two short weeks!

Go Deacs!
