I was out of the office for a couple of days of PTO and a few big items popped up in my absence. The first two items are critical, so we want to be sure all families/students read them.

Required annual enrollment/waiver process for student health insurance for all students

An email went to all parents and families – and all students – on Monday to let everyone know that the annual enrollment/waiver process for student insurance is now open. Here are the critical details:

“The Student Health Insurance waiver and enrollment forms are now open. All students enrolled in at least one on-campus credit are automatically charged and are required to enroll in or waive the Student Blue health insurance by September 15, 2026, with the exception of international students who are automatically enrolled*.

If your student does not complete either form by September 15, they will be automatically enrolled in the plan and will be responsible for the premium amount ($1,605 per semester) charged to their student account, regardless of any other coverage they may have.

Please note that the waiver and enrollment forms must be completed annually. This is not a process solely for newly-enrolled students. All students of all years must enroll or waive coverage.”

Please read the full message. If your life is as busy as mine feels, it might be easiest to go ahead and either waive or enroll as soon as you can, so you do not have the $1,605 charge on your account in case you miss the Sept. 15 deadline.

P’30s: please have your ’30s check their immunization status

We also sent this message out to all P’30s last Thursday about the fact that 600 incoming first year students have not successfully uploaded their immunization record and other health documentation:

Right now, our records show that approximately 600 incoming first-year students still have incomplete immunization documentation….

Because an incomplete health file results in an automatic account hold — which strictly prevents your student from moving into their residence hall, participating in Pre-Orientation activities, or attending classes — we need your partnership to ensure your student is fully cleared.”

The message outlines the steps every ’30 student needs to take to verify their compliance. Please be sure to have your ’30s check their status. Every year we have some students who believe they did it correctly only to find they had not – and it does impact move-in. So please urge your ’30s to follow up. Thank you.

P’30 Weekly Message

Each Tuesday, I send a message just to the incoming class of P’30 parents and families, with info you need to know. This week’s message is all about Family Weekend. As a reminder to our non-P’30s: Family Weekend event registration opens on July 15 at 10 a.m. at familyweekend.wfu.edu.
