In this Issue:

  • Important deadline for all students of all years: enroll in or waive Student Health Insurance by 9/15
  • Study Abroad Fair: Tuesday 9/15
  • Fall Career Fair: Wednesday 9/16

Today we are drawing attention to some upcoming dates and deadlines that might be of interest to students and families.

I want to stress that this first item is something all students/families of all years should read, because the Student Health Insurance requirement is something all students have to take care of every year, not just their first year.

Important deadline for all students of all years: enroll in or waive Student Health Insurance by 9/15

This is an important reminder for all students and families (of all class years), shared by our Student Health Insurance office:

“To ensure compliance with the University’s health insurance requirement, all students enrolled in at least one on-campus credit are charged for the student health insurance plan and have until September 15 to submit a waiver if they have alternative coverage that meets the University’s health insurance criteria.

Students who enroll in the Blue Cross Blue Shield NC – Student Blue plan can take advantage of zero-cost health care services at our on-campus clinic, Deacon Health. (X-rays and Specialty medication prescriptions may incur separate fees.) To compare your current coverage to the Student Blue plan benefits, please utilize our Benefits Comparison Tool.

If your student does not complete either the enrollment or waiver form by September 15, they will be automatically enrolled in the plan and will be responsible for the premium amount charged to their student account ($1,605 per semester), regardless of holding alternative coverage.

Please note that waiver and enrollment forms must be completed each year. Thank you so much for ensuring your student is compliant.”

Study Abroad Fair: Tuesday 9/15

The Study Abroad Fair is an event for students who are interested in studying abroad and would like to explore all the opportunities Wake Forest has to offer. Representatives from Wake Programs and Affiliate Programs will be available for questions and sharing information.

This is a great event to attend for any students who are considering going abroad while at Wake – whether for a semester, summer, short term program, or for one of our domestic study away programs in Washington, DC and Charlotte.

The fair will be on Tuesday 9/15 from 12-4 p.m. in Benson 401. Students can see more on The Link.

Fall Career Fair: Wednesday 9/16

The fall Career Fair will feature over 60 employers from a wide range of industries. Come meet and engage with employers who visit campus specifically looking for Wake Forest students like you to fill their full-time and internship openings. This event is open to all students.

The Career Fair will be on Weds. 9/16 from 12-4 in the Sutton Center. Students can see more at The Link or on the OPCD’s website.

Of course there are more events than these two upcoming fairs. Students can log in to The Link with their WFU email and see the full breadth and depth of upcoming events. We also send an email to students every Friday around midday called Next Week at Wake: Student Edition, which shows all the events taking place the next week.
