The following message was sent to all families on behalf of the Student Insurance Program

Dear undergraduate parents and families,

The Student Health Insurance waiver and enrollment forms are now open. All students enrolled in at least one on-campus credit are automatically charged and are required to enroll in or waive the Student Blue health insurance by September 15, 2026, with the exception of international students who are automatically enrolled*.

If your student does not complete either form by September 15, they will be automatically enrolled in the plan and will be responsible for the premium amount ($1,605 per semester) charged to their student account, regardless of any other coverage they may have.

Please note that the waiver and enrollment forms must be completed annually. This is not a process solely for newly-enrolled students. All students of all years must enroll or waive coverage.

  • To waive coverage, click here — Students with comparable coverage may opt-out of the Student Health Insurance. In order to complete the form, you will need to upload a copy of your insurance card, front and back. Once the form is successfully submitted, you will receive a confirmation email. The insurance charge will be adjusted from the student account within three to five business days.
  • To enroll in student health insurance, click here — Information will not be transferred to BCBSNC (Blue Cross Blue Shield NC) on September 16, 2026 unless an enrollment form is submitted. WE encourage you to submit an enrollment form as soon as possible to avoid difficulties accessing health insurance benefits. BCBS ID cards will be mailed to the primary mailing address listed in Workday. Please note that paying the premium on the tuition statement does not finalize enrollment in the plan; you must complete the enrollment form.

Students who do not complete either form will continue to receive reminders at their WFU email address and will be responsible for the premium amount on their student account after September 15, 2026. We encourage you to consider enrolling in the plan, as it includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a nationwide provider network and nurse support program. Should your student already have coverage, we encourage you to verify whether local providers will be covered by their insurance provider prior to waiving. For detailed information about the benefits and coverage provided, please visit www.universityhealthplans.com/WFU.

*International students:

International students with an ACA-compliant health plan that is filed and approved in the U.S. and effective prior to the waiver deadline may request to waive enrollment. Waivers are approved only in specific cases, such as when a student has coverage through a parent’s or spouse’s employer plan, a NC marketplace plan, or the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM) plan. Travel plans, international plans, and plans marketed to international students only do not meet the waiver requirements. If you believe your student meets these qualifications, you can submit a waiver here.

If you have any questions about this requirement or need further assistance, please contact University Health Plans at 833-207-7430 or .
