Three weeks until Spring Break!

We are T-minus three weeks until Spring Break, which begins on March 9th and runs through the 17th; see these and other important dates on the Registrar’s Academic Services calendar.

Your students will likely have tests, papers, and/or projects ramping up between now and Spring Break, so they may be more likely to be a bit stressed, or feel like all their tests are coming at them at the same week.

Post Spring Break, your students are likely to have a major case of Spring Fever. It’s been unseasonably warm here, so much so that the tulips at my house have emerged and are about 3″ out of the ground, and my daffodils are probably about 6″ tall. This is way earlier than they usually pop up in my garden.

Barring any sudden cooling in the weather over the next 3 weeks, it is likely that any Deacs who leave campus for Spring Break will come back afterwards to a profusion of flowers and flowering trees. Normally April is one of the most beautiful months on campus with all the spring flowers, but this year that may just start in March.

Letters So Dear for ’27s and First-Year Survey

As we do every Monday, we share our most recent Letters So Dear for our ’27s. You can read it here.

P’27 families should note that today (Feb. 19), our ’27s were emailed a brief, 11-question survey designed to provide insights into first-year students’ mental health needs. Please encourage your Class of 2027 Deacs to take the survey, which will be open until March 3.

Early morning email about Carswell Hall

Early this morning, students received an email about a report of smoke on the roof of Carswell Hall. It was a steam cloud from the boiler on the roof; there was no fire, and the area is safe. (I will confess that one time, I thought the Facilities building was on fire because I saw the the steam cloud from the boiler.)

Mondays are always a meeting-laden day, so that’s all I’ve got for you today, Daily Deacdom!
