Wake received some huge news over the weekend. We have another Rhodes Scholar in our midst:

Wake Forest senior Savarni Sanka has been named a Rhodes Scholar. Sanka, who is from Raleigh, N.C., plans to pursue a masters of public policy and masters of science in refugee and forced migration studies. Sanka was among 32 Americans chosen by the Rhodes Trust on Nov. 21 to study at England’s Oxford University in the fall of 2021. She is the 14th Wake Forest student to be named a Rhodes Scholar since 1987.

This is extraordinary news. You can (and should) read the full story here. Congratulations to Savarni for this incredible achievement!

A couple of program notes: we have now completed all of our OPCD webinars for the various P’ years. In case you missed the one for your Deac’s class year, you can see the recordings here. As always on Mondays, we have a new Weekly Message for First-Year Families (important topic this week: the Do’s and Don’t’s of Thanksgiving) and our ’24s got their issue of Letters So Dear. Residents of the Crowne properties were also sent a reminder about fall closing; this is a follow up to the original October 21st message.

In other news, students who are eligible for the 10% refund of certain fees received an email about the refund process. Students received one of two emails, depending on their circumstances. Families of eligible students also received the email. Details.

It is a short week for us. If they are not already home, your students will depart tomorrow afternoon, and then Wake is closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Call Center is only working Monday-Weds of this week (336.758.7500 from 10 am-3 pm) but there is always our After Hours Help page if you have an urgent matter that cannot wait.

Found a few more of Ken Bennett’s terrific photos of our fall foliage. Enjoy.
