Today we have a few updates, hot off the presses from a variety of campus sources. Let’s jump right in!

Update on the Presidential Search

This morning, the Presidential Search Committee shared an update with the campus community, as well as alumni and families. The message stated that they are “now looking at semi-finalists, and each is promising in a distinctive way. Currently, the committee anticipates making an announcement shortly following Commencement and expects the 15th president of Wake Forest to take office on July 1.”

Provost leadership update

President Wente shared that “Dr. Nell Jessup Newton has agreed to continue serving as interim provost through the presidential transition and the 2026-27 academic year, as needed. This extension ensures continuity and stability in our academic leadership during this period of transition. The University’s next president will have the opportunity to partner with Interim Provost Newton in advancing priorities while planning next steps in regards to appointing a permanent provost.”

Message about measles awareness and prevention

The Campus Health Committee has shared an update on measles awareness and prevention via the Campus Health website. It begins:

“You may be aware of recent measles cases reported in the Triad region. While there are no immediate impacts to campus, the Campus Health Committee is proactively sharing information to help our community stay informed, prepared and protected.”

You can read the full message here. The message was also included in the WFU Should Know weekly message to students, which goes out every Thursday afternoon.

Next Space Planning Events: April 15-16

There are two upcoming opportunities for students to get a glimpse of the potential future of campus, and to share their input and feedback about what is important to them.

Our Bicentennial Space Planning group is holding events on April 6 and April 15, which will include maps and other images of potential campus improvements, and they really want students to come and offer their comments and input.

The first event is next Wednesday, April 15, at the Mag Quad Large Fire Pit from 5-6:30 p.m., and the second event is Thursday, April 16, from 12-1:30 p.m. in front of The Pit. (NOTE: today’s issue of the WFU Should Know student e-newsletter had an incorrect date; the confirmed dates are April 15-16).

These pop-up events are casual and very easy for students to drop in, take a look, leave their feedback, and talk to the planning team. I highly recommend students attend one or the other.
