After all the crazy storms yesterday, temperatures dropped in a big way: today’s high is only supposed to get up to 44 degrees (and with a breeze, the ‘feels like’ temperature is 35). Not gonna lie, these temps feel very unfair after Spring Break. We’ll be cold today and tomorrow, and then back to a high of 84 on Sunday?!?!?! Mother Nature, you are killing me.
Speaking of killing, for those with seasonal allergies, it is probably time to start taking your Zyrtec/Allegra/Claritin of choice, as the spring flowers and trees bring with them a lot of pollen. We’re still likely a few weeks away from seeing big tumbleweeds of pollen collecting in the curbs on campus. While today’s temps suggest we are at Third Winter, The Pollening is coming.
Now onto today’s news…
Scooter theft message
This morning there was a Wake Alert message about scooter theft. If you/your Deac has a scooter on campus, please be sure to follow the safety precautions outlined in the message.
Secrest Artists Series this Thursday: Pavel Haas Quartet
This Thursday (March 19) at 7:30 p.m. in Brendle Recital Hall, Scales Fine Arts Center, the Secrest Artists Series will present Pavel Haas Quartet:
“The Pavel Haas Quartet is revered across the globe for its richness of timbre, infectious passion and intuitive rapport. Performing at the world’s most prestigious concert halls and having won six Gramophone and numerous other awards for their recordings, the Quartet is firmly established as one of the world’s foremost chamber ensembles. Their program Czech Avant-Garde & Dvořák features works by Kaprálová, Martinů, and Dvořák.”
The performance is free for students with their WFU ID. Students can claim their free ticket (or families can order tickets if you would like to attend) via the registration website.
Last day to withdraw from a course with a grade of W is this Friday
An important academic date to be aware of: the last day for students to drop a spring course with a grade of W (withdrawal) is this Friday, March 20. This is a firm deadline, so students should start this process asap, following these course withdrawal steps.
And just as a word of reassurance, while “course withdrawal” will appear on the student’s transcript, a “course withdrawal” is non-punitive and will not negatively impact a student’s GPA. It simply means a student started a course but later withdrew.
