It’s another day of rain and cool temps at Mother So Dear. Summer Session II is wrapping up as well, with final exams (in courses that have them) on August 8-9. And then it will be just a few days before our students begin arriving for move-in. We can’t wait to see your Deacs, and I hope to meet a lot of Daily Deac P’29s at move-in and family orientation activities!
Several topics to cover today – as always, scan for what you need and scroll past anything that does not apply.
For P’29s:
ACTION NEEDED: 250+ new/’29 students are still missing required immunization document and health forms
Deacon Health told me yesterday that we still have over 250 new students who have either incorrectly uploaded (or did not upload at all) their immunization documentation and health information forms. All new students must upload a PDF of their immunization documentation and input the dates of each immunization in the Immunization History form so that the immunizations can be added to their medical record and seen by healthcare providers during office visits.
Even if your new student thinks they have done this correctly, we need ALL new students to log in to the Deacon Health Portal and check their Secure Messages for any errors.
This really is an important task: students who have not uploaded all required immunization documentation run the risk of being told they cannot move into their residence hall or attend classes.
’29 mailbox numbers have been assigned
After a brief delay, it looks like all ’29 student mailbox numbers are now assigned. Here’s how your student can find their mailing address:
- Log into Workday
- Click their profile picture in the top right corner
- Select ‘View Profile’
- Select ‘Contact’
- Under Institutional Contact Information, their on-campus address with their mailbox number will be listed.
In the event they do not have a mailbox number listed in Workday, they will need to contact our Mail Services office.
Reminder of Pre-Wall Street Zoom tonight at 5 p.m.
Parents/families and students of the Class of 2029 are invited to attend an information session tonight (August 6 at 5 p.m. via Zoom) to learn more about the Pre-Wall Street Career track. The track is open to first-year students interested in exploring a career in the financial industry.
The Pre‐Wall Street Career Track provides early and focused professional preparation for qualified Wake Forest students intending to pursue careers in Investment Banking, Asset Management, Sales & Trading, Wealth Management and Private Equity.
Please join us via Zoom to learn more about the opportunities via the track. The session will be recorded and provided upon request for families who cannot attend.
For questions or to request the recording, contact the Program Director, Marty Malloy, at malloym@wfu.edu.
Club Sports webinar recording
For any families (or students!) who want to learn more about our Club Sports program and could not attend the recent webinar, the recording has now been uploaded to the Club Sports website. We hope you will find it helpful.

News stories about Wake Forest’s presence in Charlotte
My colleagues who work with our programs in Charlotte at The Pearl shared two articles that might be of interest to the Daily Deacdom:
Wake Forest degree powers career leap for Charlotte professional
A Wake Forest legacy, rooted in Charlotte
Definitely worth a read, and for those who have students who might be looking to stay in the state after graduation, there are excellent graduate and professional school options for them to continue their WFU education!
