I hope our P’25s have been keeping an eye on the Quad Cam as we prep for Commencement. The chairs look to be mostly laid out in their pristinely even rows, the stage looks largely built. It’s all coming together!

The Quad is set for Commencement - view from 5 14 25

In many ways, it’s even more fun to watch them tear down Commencement after all the guests have left. Our Facilities team is second to none – they have the Quad looking back to normal in a matter of hours. It’s incredible. So that’s another reason to check out the Quad Cam next Monday between say 1:30-5 p.m.

Today I have a few tidbits – a lot of it Commencement related. Let’s go!

Commencement email with guest information

This morning, the Commencement Office sent out a detailed email with information for our P’25 parents and families about Commencement weekend. Please read it carefully, P’25s, so that you are aware of all the particulars.

In the event that you do not see it in your inbox, please search your spam/junk/quarantine for any @wfu.edu emails, as sometimes they do land there (once we hit ‘send’, we can’t control how everyone’s Internet Service Providers interpret our messages).

Out of the Forest Commencement information for graduating students

If you have a graduating senior, I hope they are following @wfoutoftheforest on Instagram. This informative post offers details about Commencement and what graduating students need to do.

And for our P’26 families, encourage your rising seniors to follow @wfoutoftheforest so they can take advantage of timely content throughout the 2025-26 academic year.

Summer Course offerings in Leadership and Character

If your Deacs are on the fence about coming to Summer Session, this might be something that tips the scales for them: courses with a Leadership and Character component. Here’s a snippet from an email I got this morning:

“Do you need to earn some credits this summer? Can you not bear the thought of going three months without the leadership and character content you love? Consider enrolling in a summer course taught by an instructor associated with the Program for Leadership and Character. This summer we will have two such courses, and there’s still time to enroll! Additionally, the summer pre-law program will feature sessions on leadership and character.”

See the full email here.

And a shameless plug: I am scheduled to teach COM 162, Intro to Integrated Marketing, in the 2nd session of summer school. If you have a student interested in the marketing minor, this is a required intro course for that, so if they want to be in W-S for July and the first part of August, encourage them to sign up!

ACC Championship to bring parking restrictions and starter gun use May 14–17

Wake Forest is hosting the 2025 ACC Track and Field Championship from Wednesday, May 14, through Saturday, May 17, at Kentner Stadium on campus. Students and families who may be here for graduation weekend should be aware that a starter gun will be used during competition and may be heard intermittently throughout the day. Read more about parking during the championship.
