It’s the Day After Commencement, and I can say from personal experience that many of us are tired 🙂 We continue to break down the Quad – all that was left as of noon today was the back part of the stage:

The Quad is put back to normal life after Commencement; all that remains is the back part of the stage.

So just a couple of things to mention today, and we’ll be back to it tomorrow 🙂

Some additional Commencement coverage you might enjoy

Our Social Media team created this great Commencement by the Minute video on Instagram.

The Wake Forest Magazine has a great article on Baccalaureate: A guide to resisting cynicism for the Class of 2026. And they also shared this story, Becoming a graduate, about Commencement day.

Hope you enjoy these.

Notice of road closure on campus until August

Summer is always time for major construction on college campuses, and this summer is no different:

“Beginning Tuesday, May 19, McPherson Road will be closed from Wake Forest Road to Gulley Drive. The project is expected to be completed by Friday, Aug. 14. Significant fencing will be installed at both ends of the road and in portions of nearby sidewalk areas to support construction and maintain safety.

The project will also require the temporary closure of Lot M, the Kirby/Calloway Bridge, and the Reynolda Hall loading dock, including the connected parking lot and traffic circle.”

Read the full story. If you have students who will be on campus this summer, they will need to use alternate pathways to the Pit, etc. (see below, click to enlarge).

Grand opening of Wake Forest location in The Pearl in Charlotte

While Commencement was the big news yesterday, there was also a major event last Monday, May 11:

“Wake Forest welcomed the community to its new, permanent home in The Pearl innovation district in Charlotte…the culmination of a multi-year quest to deepen its connections to one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S.”

Wake Forest has had a Charlotte presence for decades: first with programs offered by the School of Business, then more recently through the School of Professional Studies and the School of Law, plus our new Medical School that opened last summer. “But the move to The Pearl shows the university’s commitment to delivering world-class learning in a city ranked as one of the top five places to live in the nation, said Charles Iacovou, founding dean of the School of Professional Studies and vice provost for Wake Forest’s Charlotte programs.”

Read the full story. Charlotte is a hot destination for many of our graduates, and it is wonderful to see Wake’s presence growing there.

That’s all I have for you today, Daily Deacdom! We’ll be back at it tomorrow.
