It is a beautiful, sunny, warm day on campus. A perfect Friday to end the week. With the Wake-Notre Dame game at noon tomorrow, we’ve seen an uptick in ND fans walking around campus, and more chalked-on-the-sidewalk reminders of the game.

Another chalked notice is of aWAKE All Night, which will be on Saturday from 9 pm-1 am. aWake All Night is a night of engaging attractions, unique novelties, delicious food, and great raffle prizes open to all!

In other event news, Women’s Soccer is having Bri Carney Senior Day on Sunday at noon (also against Notre Dame). The staff of the LGBTQ Center will be guest coaching. Even though your Deacs get in free, if you want to attend, the first 100 people who come in rainbow attire will get in free.

Coming next week is Tarana Burke, who (if memory serves) is credited with starting the #metoo movement. She is a survivor of sexual assault and she’ll be here on Tuesday for what will no doubt be a really important discussion.

There are way more things happening this weekend and next week, and your Deacs can find them on the Events calendar.

What else to tell you before we close the week? It’s Friday, so call your Deacs (here is why). While it is still plenty hot, there are some leaves starting to fall from the trees. Family Weekend is too early in the year for you to see fall properly – our leaves tend to be at their peak of color in the last week of October, first week or two of November. But since it has been warm here, I will take any sign of impending fall.

We can’t wait to see you for Family Weekend next Friday-Sunday. Pay attention to the weather forecast and pack accordingly – that may be clothing you can layer to adjust for temperature, comfortable shoes, sunscreen/hat if it looks like the football game will be sunny, etc. And remember if you are going to the football game (either tomorrow or any game really), there is a new Clear Bag Policy.

Make it a great weekend, Deac families!
