It’s almost the end of the first week of school. Our students, I strongly suspect, are eyeing the finish line of this first week and will be looking forward to having a couple of days of down time.

Tonight we have a women’s soccer game; they are playing Michigan at 7 pm at Spry Stadium. For those families who are new to WFU, our soccer games are amazing – so much fun, and so much camaraderie. Especially P’22s, encourage your Deacs to show up and support our team.  Looking ahead, the movie Avengers: Infinity War is being shown on the Mag Quad (aka Manchester Plaza) on Friday night.

In terms of academics, I have heard of a lot of students (mostly first-years and sophomores) switching classes and getting their schedules in order. This is a very normal part of the beginning of the semester. If any students are having significant difficulty with their schedules, they can talk to their academic adviser or the professional academic counselors in the Office of Academic Advising. All great resources.

Last up for today….a couple of Throwback Thursday funnies:

– A publication called Happiness is Being a Wake Forest C0-Ed, a guide for new freshmen ladies from 1966. I run this every year around Orientation because it really might seem shockingly ancient in terms of its advice.

– A campus map from that same guide. As you will see, there are many, many buildings on campus now that were not on this map.
