Fall 2024 Registration Checklist (with Details Below)

As you anticipate registering for classes in the new system, make sure to complete ALL of the checklist to plan ahead and prepare for registration week:

  • Complete Student Onboarding Tasks.

  • Meet with your advisor and have your academic hold removed.

  • Resolve any holds with the office that placed the hold.

  • Create Saved Schedules using Academic Planner.

  • Confirm registration appointment information.

  • Learn about Workday to orient yourself for self-service registration.

unchecked Schedule a meeting with your primary advisor.

You must meet with your advisor to review your academic plan for fall semester and to have your advising hold removed by your advisor prior to your registration appointment. While there are no PINs, your advising hold must be released by your primary advisor following your meeting in order for you to access registration.

You will be unable to register for Fall 2024 courses unless you meet with your primary advisor and have this hold removed. The Office of the University Registrar cannot remove the advising hold.

Find your academic advisor by logging into Workday > Go to “My Academics” app > Click on “View My Support Network”. For additional information (video) on how to find your advisor, click here.

unchecked Check and remove any holds.

Check your Academic Dashboard and ensure you have no holds. If you have any holds, make sure to resolve them with the office that placed your hold prior to registration. You will not be able to register for classes until the holds are removed.

For information (video) on how to find your holds, click here.

unchecked Create an Academic Plan and Saved Schedules.

Use the Academic Plan in Workday to plan ahead and map out courses that meet your academic requirements semester by semester. Your Academic Plan should be updated each semester before registering for course sections. You can register for course sections using your Academic Plan.

You can also create Saved Schedules based on the Academic Plan to find course sections being offered for the term.

For more information, go to the job aid that can also be found in Project Wakeday Training Resources.

unchecked Check your registration appointment.

Registration appointments (formerly known as “Time Tickets”) are assigned based on earned hours, exclusive of any pre-college transfer credits (e.g., AP and IB) as of the end of Fall 2023 semester. You can view your registration appointment in your Academic Dashboard beginning March 18.

Find your registration appointment by logging into Workday > Go to “My Academics” app > Click on “View My Registration Appointments”.

You may register for up to 17 total hours (18 hours for School of Business) at your assigned date and time based on your earned hours through the Fall 2023.

Credit Overload Requests

Beginning April 8, you may seek permission for credit overload by following the steps outlined by the Office of Academic Advising through the “Create Request Task” in Workday.

To request credit overload, use the “Create Request” task in Workday.

  1. Log into Workday.

  2. Type in the search bar “Create Request” and select.

  3. Under the request type, select “credit overload”.

  4. Fill in the form and submit.

unchecked Learn about Workday.

This will be our first time registering in Workday. Please be prepared before registration week on how to navigate the new system.

Automatic Waitlists

The Workday Student wait-list system functions quite differently than what you have used in WIN. Workday uses auto-promotion throughout the registration period. This means that if you add yourself to a waitlist, Workday will automatically enroll you into the course when a seat becomes available, provided you meet the course section eligibility (permission of instruction/prerequisite), there are no time conflicts in your schedule, and you are not registered for another section of the same course.

Please only waitlist for sections you really want as the system will add you to the first available course section that you have chosen and for which you are eligible. You will no longer be able to manually register for a waitlisted course in a specific window of time.

For more information about the waitlist system, go here.

Registration Support

The Office of the University Registrar staff will be available in person at 110 Reynolda Hall and via Google Chat during extended office hours, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 1 – 5. Google Chat is the most efficient way to contact us for assistance during self-service registration.

If you have questions, please contact the Office of the University Registrar (336.758.5207; registrar@wfu.edu) or reach us via Google Chat during registration week.

Sincerely,

Office of the University Registrar
