The message below was sent to currently-enrolled undergraduate students about fall registration. Note that incoming students will receive information about course registration when the New Students website goes live on May 1st.

Dear undergraduate students,

Advising for Fall 2021 registration begins soon! Please carefully review the information below, noting changes for this registration period.

Please note that given the rapidly changing public health conditions and the length of time until the start of the Fall 2021 semester, there may be some changes in the schedule. We will update you if any changes occur.

Fall 2021 Advising and Registration Dates:

  • April 16: Schedule available in the Registration Portal under “Browse Classes.”

  • April 16: Planner available in the Registration Portal under “Plan Ahead.”

  • April 19-30: Lower Division and Major/Minor advising.

    • You must be advised by your adviser to obtain your registration PIN. Without your PIN, you will be unable to register.

    • OUR and OAA cannot release PINs.

    • Save your PIN in a safe and accessible location (e.g., take a photo of it) since registration will not occur until June.

    • Many advising meetings for Fall 2021 will be conducted virtually.  You should expect to meet with your advisers over Zoom, Google Meet, or other electronic means including Skype and Webex.  However, some opportunities for in-person meetings may exist at the discretion of the adviser.

    • Please confirm the mode of advising (virtual or in-person) with your adviser in advance.  Be sure to indicate your on-campus or remote status, as well as any time zone information or technical limitations.

    • If students fail to make an advising appointment, or miss scheduled appointment(s) with advisers, they may be referred to OAA for advising.  Students should know that OAA might not be able to advise them prior to their registration time. This is particularly true if the referral happens in the day or two prior to registration.  In other words, delayed advising might be a natural consequence for students who fail to schedule or show up for their advising meeting until the last moment.  We will always do our best to help our students, but this period is extremely busy, and we might not have last-minute appointments available for students who have not followed through in meeting with their advisers.

    • FYS and WRI: Students who have not taken their First-Year Seminar or WRI 111 must take it either this summer or in the fall.

  • May 22-30: Major/Minor registration (registration done by academic departments)

  • June 1-4: Continuing student self-service registration; watch for your time ticket. Prior to June 1, check your WIN account to assure you have no holds on your record.  Holds will prohibit you from registering.

  • June 7: Students may seek permission to exceed 17 hours by following the steps outlined by the Office of Academic Advising.

  • Unless otherwise noted in the schedule, all Fall ‘21 classes will be taught face-to-face.

  • Students Planning to study abroad: Students with active applications or acceptance for Fall study abroad are advised to dual register, that is, register for on-campus courses and continue applications and course plans for study abroad. Eventually, students whose programs are confirmed will drop on-campus courses and commit to study abroad.

  • International Students coming to campus: International students are encouraged to participate in advising as if visa and travel circumstances will allow for on-campus study in the fall. In the weeks ahead, additional information will be provided in advance of registration dates in May.
