Family Weekend: September 26-28
In this Issue:
- Family Weekend date is September 26-28
- Sleepin’ Deacon challenge
It’s a superbusy day for me today so sharing two quick items – one of which I know you have been waiting for: the Family Weekend date! Some of you have asked me about Commencement info – I am waiting to get that myself and will share it once I have it. Thank you for your patience, P’25s!
Family Weekend date is September 26-28
The date has been set for Family Weekend: September 26-28. Here’s a couple of snippets from the website, but know more details will come later in the semester into the summer:
“Weekend highlights include our Deacon Family Festivities on Friday, access to the student tailgate area before the game time, Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs. the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Allegacy Stadium on Saturday, a Farewell Brunch on Sunday, and much more!
The Family Weekend schedule and registration will be available in early July. Updates will be reflected here on our site, and additional information will be communicated through the Daily Deac and parents.wfu.edu. As usual, the schedule includes various open houses or tours, which include academic departments, the Lam Museum of Anthropology, the Z. Smith Reynolds Library Special Collections and Archives, the School of Business, the Reynolda House Museum of American Art, Deacon Family Fest, the Night of Student Performances, and so much more!”
For now, you can start looking at hotels (and VRBOs, Airbnb, etc.,), both in Winston-Salem and surrounding cities (some great places to stay in Greensboro and High Point!) and mark your calendars!
Sleepin’ Deacon challenge
I heard from one of my sources in the Office of Wellbeing that we are gearing up for our annual Sleepin’ Deacon challenge:
“Registration for the 2025 Sleepin Deacon Challenge is now open! The deadline to register for Sleepin Deacon is Friday, Jan. 31. This two-week challenge engages students, faculty, and staff members to improve their current sleeping habits. During the two weeks, participants will be asked to record their sleep daily as well as their sleep hygiene practices.”
I did the Sleepin’ Deacon challenge a few years ago and found it to be really helpful. I can’t swear that I have implemented all the suggestions (my job is one where I can’t go to sleep with my phone away from my bed), I have implemented other strategies and am better for it. I hope your Deacs might be interested.
