Happy first day of Tuesday classes for our Deacs! This has been a busy day for me, so we will just share a few notes about upcoming events. Take what you need and skip anything that does not serve you.
Spring Career Fair – January 22
The Spring Career Fair is coming up on January 22nd and we hope families will encourage their students to attend. There is a terrific website with details on the fair, including things your students should do to prep for the fair, what to do at the fair, the list of companies who will be in attendance, and more.
The website also lists some additional events this spring:
Like so many other things in life, your results can be directly proportional to the effort you put in. Even if your Deacs are not imminently in search of a job, encourage them to be working regularly and steadily with the resources of the OPCD (Office of Personal and Career Development) to ensure they are maximizing their efforts.
Leadership and Character spring discussion group
upcoming discussion group called, “What’s the Point Anyway?” In this group we will reflect on the purpose of college, life, and what it means to live a good life in college and beyond. The deadline for students to sign up for a group is Wednesday, January 22. All of the relevant sign-up info is here.
Procrastination workshop
Is your Deac a procrastinator? Would they like some tips and strategies to plan more and procrastinate less? CLASS (Center for Learning, Access, and Student Success) will be hosting an interactive workshop entitled “New Year Same You: Tips for Tackling Procrastination” on Wednesday, January 22 at 6 p.m. in the Wellbeing Center Room A330.
Want to be sure that folks see the fine print at the bottom right of the graphic: attending spring semester OWLS events enters students to win a VIP private study room experience from CLASS for final exams! The more OWLS events your student attends, the more chances they have!
