It was a bit of a wet Family Weekend for us, but I hope that if you attended, you had a great time despite the occasional burst of rain. I loved seeing so many families – I am told close to 1,700 families were here with us! Today will be brief because I am playing catch-up on my inbox.

Please encourage your Deacs to take advantage of our Face to Face series this Wednesday, Sept. 27 with presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin and bestselling author Michael Beschloss. There is a free student-led event in Wait Chapel at 5 p.m.; doors open at 4 p.m. To learn more about this free event (including new security protocols), visit the Face to Face website.
Multicultural sorority interest meeting
I got an email last week about an upcoming set of interest meetings for our multicultural sorority. If this is something that would interest your Deac, please share:
“Delta Xi Phi, WFU’s only multicultural sorority, will host interest sessions on October 2 from 4-6 p.m. in the Women’s Center and October 3 from 4-6 p.m. in the Intercultural Center. As a multicultural sorority, Delta Xi Phi believes that culture is multifaceted and extends beyond race. One of DXP’s main goals is to increase multicultural awareness and inclusivity on campus through programming and advocacy.
Delta Xi Phi’s pillars are: advancement of women through higher education, community service, increasing multicultural awareness, sisterhood, and friendship. Interest sessions are open to all non Greeks who identify as female and are meant to be informal and fun opportunities to learn more about the sorority and each other. Questions? Andrew Sabin Family Center for Environment and Sustainability is announced
We got some great news on the environment and sustainability front: “With a leadership gift from the Andrew Sabin Family Foundation, Wake Forest University will substantially expand its work to answer the world’s most pressing environmental and sustainability questions. Wake Forest’s Center for the Environment, Energy and Sustainability (CEES) will become the Andrew Sabin Family Center for Environment and Sustainability. The $5 million gift will support research, education and outreach through collaboration within the University and with partners around the globe. Read the full announcement.”
