  • Emergency testing will now take place tomorrow (Feb. 16)

It’s a nice and warm Wednesday here – high of 66 today, and tomorrow is predicted to get to 73 – and at the time of my writing this, we have beautiful blue skies over the Quad Cam (see below; click to enlarge). Today I have a few things to share. I hope P’26 families will pay special attention to the first item on Housing Selection Information Sessions, because this can be a big help to your students as they start to plan for their housing for next year. a view from the Quad Cam 2 15 23

Housing Selection Information Sessions (highly recommend for all first-year students)

We highly encourage students to attend one of the Housing Selection Information Sessions to learn more about the process with our Residence Life and Housing staff. This is especially important for our ’26s who have not gone through the housing selection process yet. Information sessions are listed below. Note: students of all years can attend any session.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 21: Information Session from 5-6 p.m. in the Luter Hall lobby
  • Wednesday, Feb. 22: Information Session from 5-6 p.m. in the Wellbeing Center Living Room
  • Wednesday, March 1: Table Session from 12-2 p.m. in the Benson Center outside the Food Court – this is a time to stop by and ask any questions you have
  • Thursday, March 2: Information Session from 5-6 p.m. in the Angelou parlor

I can’t recommend highly enough that ’26 students attend one of these sessions. Being able to understand the housing selection process before you are in the middle of it (and having to make decisions on the fly) is really crucial. Having a good sense of how the process works, and being able to plan for various potential housing options in advance, is likely to make their housing selection go a lot smoother. So please encourage your students to attend.

Valentines Day video with the Demon Deacon

Yesterday some of my very talented colleagues caught up with the Demon Deacon as he spread some Valentine’s cheer on campus. Check out the video – it’s very heartwarming – pun intended!

Wake Up Wednesday with Dr. Shea

Our early-rising Deacs got the chance to grab some free coffee, tea, and/or We swag at this morning’s Wake Up Wednesday with Dr. Shea Kidd Brown, Vice President for Campus Life. These casual drop-in events are a great way for students to connect with administrators for coffee and conversation. Students can find events like Wake Up Wednesdays on the Corq app or The Link website. Here are a few pics from this morning (click to enlarge).
