Congratulations to all the Kansas City Deac families (and KC fans) on last night’s Super Bowl victory. This Philly-raised girl was hoping for a different outcome, but it was a really good game.

Today there is a ton of stuff to cover, and lots of opportunities for your Deacs to engage in this week, so we’ll get right to it.

Community Safety Advisory

The campus community got a message yesterday that University Police are investigating reports of four vehicle break-ins that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 11 in the parking lot designated primarily for sophomore parking (across from the Polo Road entrance to Reynolda Campus and accessed from Long Drive).

In each case, the rear window of the vehicle was shattered. Three of the four vehicles were locked, and it does not appear that the suspects entered the vehicles. In response to these reports, University Police is increasing security in the area. You can read the full advisory here.

Mental Health Week offerings

CLASS drop in study halls each Tuesday

CLASS (Center for Learning, Access, and Success) is offering a drop in study hall every Tuesday night!  Encourage your students to join us in Greene Hall Room 245 from 7pm to 9pm on Tuesdays for quiet proctored study time in a classroom setting.

No Mouse Challenge this week

#NoMouse Challenge: Wake Forest joins this global Challenge and encourages all students, faculty, and staff to take 10 minutes out of their day, Feb. 13-17, to participate. #NoMouse Challenge promotes awareness around accessible web design, encouraging everyone to explore the keyboard accessibility of websites they frequent by navigating without a mouse or trackpad.

Deac for a Día at the School of Business

Deac for a Día is a one-day event designed for Hispanic/Latinx prospective students to immerse themselves with the School of Business and our MS in Management, MS in Business Analytics, and MS in Accountancy programs. In addition to overviews of academic and student life, attendees will have the opportunity to network with current graduate students, program faculty, and career coaches. This event will be hosted on February 24th in Farrell Hall. Registration is now open! For any questions, please contact Alex Peoples at peoplesa@wfu.edu.

Sustainability Career Panel

Is your Deac considering a career in sustainability and the environment? Whether they have their future planned out or haven’t yet started, they won’t want to miss this exciting opportunity! On Tues., Feb. 21 from 5:30-6:45 p.m. (via Zoom), students can hear from five Wake Forest alumni who will talk about their current positions, career paths, and how to pursue a successful, impactful, and fulfilling future in the field. Encourage your Deac to come learn from this diverse group of leaders who were once in their shoes! Students can register here.

Letters So Dear for the ’26s

Every Monday, a Letters So Dear email is sent to our first-year students with wisdom from an older student about some aspects of the first year of college. P’26s can read this week’s message here.

Reminder of emergency systems testing tomorrow (Feb. 14)

Just a reminder that we will be doing tests that tests of our emergency alert systems tomorrow (Feb. 14) through Feb. 16. System tests will occur on both days between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. The tests are being conducted to ensure that the University’s emergency notification systems are operating properly. Read the full message.

That’s a lot for a Monday – thanks for hanging in there with all of today’s news. Hope your Deacs are able to get outside and enjoy some sun (yesterday was rainy, cold, and gross most of the day). A quick peek at Thursday’s forecast shows a high of 71, and I am here for it :)
