Happy Friday, Deac families! We have been very busy here prepping for reopening and working to get everyone over the finish line for vaccine documentation, so today will be brief.

A couple of news items: we sent messages to students who were not yet compliant with our vaccine policies (and a version also went to their families) on January 5th.

Students received their WFU Should Know e-newsletter yesterday. A couple of important COVID-related items to draw your attention to:

“If you tested positive for COVID on Jan. 3 or after, do not come to campus. You must first communicate with Wake Forest Best Health (wfuwellness@wakehealth.edu or 743-223-4217) so that health care providers can issue guidance about your circumstances. As a reminder, undergraduate and graduate students are required to report positive test results. If you tested positive between Dec. 29 and Jan. 2 AND your symptoms have not resolved, you must also communicate with Wake Forest Best Health.”

“Isolation and quarantine protocols have been updated for the spring semester. Please familiarize yourself with the information in the Length of Quarantine section of the websiteas quarantine length depends on whether you are fully vaccinated (i.e., you are at least two weeks past the primary vaccine dose(s) — one dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, or the second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines — and have received a booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine if it has been more than six months after the second dose of a Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or two months after a Johnson and Johnson vaccine).”

Some students are going through sorority recruitment at present. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life sends a message each day to their families to explain the processes of that day. If your daughters are going through recruitment, I wish them luck (also want to re-share the advice about recruitment that was posted a few weeks ago).

As a reminder, the opening of University housing is at 9 am on Saturday, January 8th. Students will not be able to move in prior to that time unless they have received specific instructions from Residence Life and Housing.

We are looking forward to our students’ return. Wishing everyone safe travels!
