Yesterday we mentioned Pitsgiving coming up on Thursday. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but not every student will leave campus for Thanksgiving break. I’d love to get a sense of what your Deacs are doing, so please take this quick, one-question survey about your Deac’s Thanksgiving break plans.

For those whose students are staying on campus for Thanksgiving break, they will want to visit the Campus Life website for information about campus resources and operating hours, particularly for dining. Students staying on campus will want to plan ahead for groceries and/or meals when their normal dining venues are closed.

If your student is traveling for Thanksgiving and needs an asymptomatic COVID test, just a reminder that our Student Health Service cannot provide asymptomatic tests. They have compiled a list of resources for students who need COVID tests for travel.

For our news buffs in the Daily Deacdom, this week’s issue of Wake Forest in the News is now online. You can see where our faculty experts have been highlighted in national and regional news.

I know I have mentioned this before, but I saw a story today in Inside Higher Ed about campuses dealing with early flu outbreaks. Wake requires students to get the flu vaccine again this year (it’s due December 15) but the earlier they get theirs, the better. If your Deac hasn’t gotten their flu shot, encourage them to do it as soon as they can – or plan for it at Thanksgiving break.

Finally, I want to share with you some images from David Friedman, emeritus professor living on Faculty Drive. Dr. Friedman got some great shots of campus last weekend and was kind enough to share them. Hope you enjoy them! Mother So Dear is especially lovely in early November.
