I am out of the office today and tomorrow, so this is a prepost

November is Native American Heritage Month. There is a terrific video with Mahlea Hunt (’23), a member of the Lumbee tribe, where she talks about a beautiful dress that is part of her heritage – Women’s Southern Traditional Regalia – that she has made. Hope you enjoy it.

Our University Police has let me know they will be having another edition of Pizza with the Police next week. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get to know the officers on campus – plus free pizza (what’s not to like?)

The Chaplain’s Office let me know about a half day mindfulness retreat on Saturday, November 20th that is open to students. Students can see details in the flyer and scan the QR code for more info.

This week’s issue of Wake Forest in the News is ready for you, and this week covers a wide variety of topics, so dig in to learn more if you are interested.

Finally, today is Veterans Day, where we are meant to pause and reflect on the service of our country’s veterans. There are no doubt many veterans within the Daily Deacdom – and whether you served yourself, or have a family member who has served, I want to say thank you for your service to our country. In that spirit, here’s a picture of last year’s Veterans Day observance on campus.

The combined Wake Forest and Winston Salem State University ROTC battalion holds their Veterans Day ceremony in the Sutton Center, on the campus of Wake Forest University, Wednesday, November 11, 2020. Cadets Hagler and Lynn of Wake Forest University and Cadets Smith and Timmons of Winston Salem State University lay the wreathes.
