We had an unexpected situation last night: students received a series of Wake Alert messages about an armed robbery at the BP station near the Best Western Plus; the Best Western Plus is our COVID quarantine/isolation hotel. We sent this message to parents and families, consistent with our Parent and Family Communications Guidelines and Philosophy. (If you have not reviewed the various scenarios about the kinds of things that prompt email messages to families, please see those at the bottom of the website). You can follow Wake Alert on Twitter and Facebook to receive notices in your social media feeds.

A few other communications to note: a correction to yesterday’s Daily Deac: the message sent to ’25 students yesterday was only sent to Regular Decision students (as Early Decision students had received a similar message earlier in the spring).

Today, a message went out to all ’25 students about housing; this went to students who have officially enrolled and have established WFU email addresses (note: there is a brief lag between your sending in the deposit and your student’s account being set up, so if your Deac did not get it, that is likely why); read it here. Please note that we are working on the New Students website right now for a May 3rd launch. Right now, all the info on the site is from last year (i.e., for the Class of 2024). On May 3rd, the site will go live and you will have access to the full site, including a section just for parents and families, which includes links to messages that your students receive.

Our student photographer, Riley Herriman (’22), got a lot of great pictures from our Wakechella event this past weekend. Looks like our Deacs had a great time!
