Peer educators

Some of my colleagues captured the fun of Arrive and Thrive yesterday afternoon. You can experience it yourself in this short video.

Speaking of Thrive and wellbeing, if your student is looking for meaningful involvement as a peer educator, the following opportunity is available:

The Office of Wellbeing, in collaboration with the University Counseling Center and Women’s Center, is excited to announce that applications for the 2019 cohort of peer educators is officially open! By applying for a spot to join the P.E.E.R.S (Peers Educating Engaging Reaching and Supporting) Network, students get the opportunity to become nationally certified peer educators through NASPA while making a positive impact on WFU’s culture of wellbeing. Applications are now open! Please encourage students to apply. More information (along with the application) can be found here. The deadline to apply is September 18th at 8 p.m.

Finally, a couple of security-related notices. University Police is sponsoring Pizza with the Police – free pizza and a chance to meet our campus officers (2019 Pizza with the Police 9-11). And a message went out today announcing the arrest of a person involved in an off campus assault/break in; read it here. Any time a campuswide email goes to all students, faculty, and staff, I post it at our Family News page and I try to remember to link it in the Daily Deac. You can also subscribe at Wake Ready to have crime alerts emailed to you. Note: just like the Daily Deac, Wake Ready messages for subscribers go out once a day (around noon). So if a message is sent prior to noon, you will receive it same day. If something happens at 1 pm, Wake Ready will release it to parents and families at noon the next day.
