All eyes are turned to Inauguration on Friday, and Mother Nature is smiling on us: it looks like Friday will be partly cloudy and warm, with a high of 81. This will be great weather for our Community Celebration on Friday evening.
Let’s get right to it!
Project Pumpkin Pics
I was sadly not able to get up to the Quad yesterday to see Project Pumpkin in action, but I can share some of the photos from yesterday. Even President Rodriguez got in on the action, with a very Wake Forest hat for trick-or-treating children. Enjoy!

Why do we see ghosts? The science behind spooky encounters
In this Instagram post, psychology professor Melissa Maffeo says our brains like to make sense of things we can’t easily explain. She shares the science behind ghost sightings, from strange sounds to sleep paralysis.
Wake Forest achieves 100% renewable electricity
Though today’s stories had a lot to do with the Halloween colors of orange and black, our last story is pure green:
“As of Aug. 7, 2026, the Sebree Solar II Energy Center in Henderson County, Kentucky, is officially operational. Wake Forest joined eight NC and PA colleges and universities to bring this facility online. The Sebree Solar II Energy Center generates renewable energy equivalent to 100% of campus electricity usage, reducing WFU’s operational emissions by over 75% relative to 2007 levels and advancing our path to climate neutrality by 2040. Read the full story here.”
This is a wonderful commitment to renewable energy. Go Deacs!
Wishing you all a great evening, Daily Deacdom!
