And so it begins…final exams. This next week will see our students taking exams, packing up to go home (or possibly to a beach trip first!), and for our seniors, prepping to leave Wake as students and enter Life After Wake (sniff).

There are likely to be a lot of emotions: stress, physical and mental fatigue, eagerness to get home (sometimes combined with dread of leaving friends), all while manically trying to get a lot of studying and packing done in a short time.

As a way to help ease some of that stress, ZSR is once again the hero of finals week. In addition to having Wake the Library (i.e., free food and stress relievers throughout the week), the supersecret student Library Decorating Committee has given students some new artwork in the Atrium. The theme this time seems to be American Travel and National Parks. Take a look:

As a certified American Road Trip/National Parks nerd, my hat is off to the students who came up with this theme. Well played.

Now on to today’s topics…

Family Weekend football tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. tomorrow

Important info for families who wish to get tickets for our Family Weekend game against Stanford – tickets go on sale tomorrow. Here is what my friends in Athletics asked me to share with you:

“Tickets for the Family Weekend football game (Oct. 3 against Stanford) will go on sale Tuesday, May 5 at 10 a.m. Mark your calendar.

NOTE: Students can get a free ticket to sit in the students’ football section with the Screamin’ Demon Rewards App (ticket claims open at noon the Monday before the game: Sept. 28 at noon ET). If your student wants to sit with you, you will need to purchase a ticket for your student.

For inquiries or to purchase Family Weekend premium or season tickets options, please call the Wake Forest Ticket Office at 336.758.3322 ext 1 or complete this form to be contacted. The below premium options sell out quickly:

While you can order your football tickets on May 5 via Athletics, registration for Family Weekend events doesn’t open until July 15 (more details on events will come later this summer, but generally speaking the weekend begins on Friday early afternoon and concludes with brunch on Sunday).”

Engineering Design Showcase photostory

Last Wednesday at Wake Downtown was the Engineering Design Showcase, where engineering seniors presented their final Capstone Design projects using posters and demonstrations.

Watch the commercials for each of the projects, or see the photostory. Congratulations to all our seniors who participated!

Robert Trelo (’26) photostory

As we continue our series of photostories about graduating seniors, today we are featuring Robert Trelo (’26). Robert is a finance major and an engineering minor and also a cadet in ROTC. After graduation Robert will be working full-time in finance as an analyst while also serving in the Army Reserve: “I expect to be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps, contributing to the Army’s communications, cyber-related, and information systems mission,” he said. View his photostory.

I always wish all of our seniors well in life after Wake – and the ‘worrying mom’ in me always wants to send out extra good wishes to our ROTC cadets, knowing that those who are serving our country may one day be in roles where they are putting their lives on the line. Be safe, y’all.

And to all our student readers of the Daily Deac (a growing number, I am proud to say!), we’ll run a finals meme every day this week just for you. Remember: you got this!!
