Several families have asked about resources we have to prepare students for the expedited recruitment process for the world of finance. My friends in the OPCD have sent me this, which I hope will be helpful:
“Recruitment by organizations in the finance industry has expedited in recent years with organizations wanting to connect with students as early as their first and second years. In order for us to help prepare students for this market shift, we need your help.
Handshake
Students who have an interest in finance should update their Handshake career preferences to receive key information being shared by our Employer Relations team; to outreach by employers using the Handshake direct messaging option; and to the Handshake-enabled AI which sends job/internship/event information to students based on their indicated interests. Students can update these preferences by logging in to Handshake and clicking Career Interests in the top right corner of the page.
Training the Street
To help with student finance education, we are excited to announce that we will again have Training the Street, the world’s leading financial learning services company, offering state-of-the-art, instructor-led courses in financial modeling and corporate valuation to corporate and educational clients, to hold two sessions on campus for WFU students. The deadline for students to register and secure a seat is nearing. We have limited capacity, so students are encouraged to register now to guarantee they have a spot!
There is a $50 registration fee per session, and students must register within their Handshake account for each session they wish to attend. Professional development grants are available for students with financial need.
