Editor’s note: We had a late addition to today’s blog after original publication. Please see this severe thunderstorm alert.

Another jam packed day for me, so just quick hits today: some important IS infor for ’24s, one moment of pride as two of our students are recognized with a major award, and a correction for P’28s.

IS information for graduates

Information Systems sent this message to graduating students today to share important information and to-dos before graduation. Your ’24s will want to make sure to handle these items. Here’s an excerpt:

“We’ve created a Pre-Graduation checklist on our Information For Wake Forest Graduates Webpage to assist you in your transition to a Wake Forest alum. The checklist includes step-by-step instructions and key dates for important, time-sensitive tasks.

To avoid losing special materials, we recommend you take these necessary steps to transfer your messages, files, docs, Drive, and other content.” Read the full message.

Goldwater Scholars announced

I saw this news and wanted to be sure to share it:

“Wake Forest junior Elena Singer-Freeman and sophomore Cassandra Hung have been named 2024 Barry M. Goldwater Scholars. The two are among 438 college students from across the U.S. to receive the award for the 2024-25 academic year.

The Goldwater Scholarship is the premier undergraduate award for STEM students; its recipients go on to become some of this country’s finest scientists. Award winners are selected based on academic merit from a pool of more than 5,000 sophomores and juniors studying natural sciences, mathematics and engineering from 446 institutions.”

Correction to yesterday’s Weekly Message to P’28s

One of our eagle-eyed P’28s found a link that was not working in yesterday’s Weekly Update for P’28s. The link was about immunization requirements for new students.

I have corrected the online version of the message, which you can access here.

As a reminder, students must access their Deacon Health Portal using their WFU email and password only. Students’ logins and passwords may not be shared with anyone (even families) per our Information Security policies.
