Photostories: Spring in the Forest and Wakeville Arts Festival

If you have not had the chance to visit campus within the past month, this is for you 🙂 My extremely talented colleague Lyndsie Schlink has put together a photostory about Spring in the Forest, and it is chock full of wonderful pictures of Wake Forest in full bloom. This is one you’ll want to forward to other family and friends (grandparents, etc.) to marvel at how pretty your Deac’s campus is.

There is a second photostory to enjoy: this one is on the Wakeville Arts Festival. Wakeville is a student-led, interdisciplinary arts festival at Wake Forest that includes music, dance, theater, visual art, film, comedy and more. It was held on April 6 and was enjoyed by hundreds of people.

Move-Out Message Sent to Students

Today the Office of Residence Life and Housing sent this message to students about preparing to move out at the end of the semester.

Extend Your Stay session for ’24s and ’25s at the Business School

This one goes out to our P’24s and P’25s: My colleagues in the Business School wanted me to share this upcoming opportunity for current juniors and seniors. If you have a ’24 or ’25 who is trying to figure out their next step after graduation, I highly recommend giving a look a the MS in Management and MS in Business Analytics programs. This could be an especially attractive option for students who had contemplated being a business major as an undergrad but did not end up pursuing that path. Here’s the details:

“Extend Your Stay
Date: 4/26/24
Time: 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
Location: Farrell Hall
Student Registration Link

This one-day event, open to juniors and seniors, is an interactive experience that allows both prospective and accepted students an opportunity to fully engage with the MS in Management and MS in Business Analytics programs.

During ‘Extend Your Stay’, attendees will engage with members of the Wake Business community including current Double Deacs, faculty, career coaches, and admissions. Join us in Farrell Hall for a comprehensive and fun overview of graduate student life and the Double Deacon masters experience.”

I have had former academic advisees of mine go through these programs and have outstanding results, getting excellent jobs following graduation. Will spare you my long nerdy lecture about how students’ brains develop through their early 20s – and how sometimes first-years and sophomores who wanted to be business majors (but maybe struggled in a prereq) were able to tackle those same tough subjects with great success when they were in their early 20s and not 18 years old – but you must trust me about this.

Reminder that 336-758-CARE is here for students

I was talking to some students yesterday about the end of the semester looming, and the mood on campus. The last week or two of the semester can be a tough time for students stress-wise, so we want to remind families know that members of our community can call 336-758-CARE to connect to resources (even after hours, on weekends, etc.). A list of additional resources is available at we.wfu.edu. Should your students need support, please encourage them to seek it.

Additionally, if you know a student who may be experiencing signs of distress, you can call 336-758-CARE (2273) or submit an online referral form. Learn more about what to expect when referring someone else.
