In this Issue:

  • Arnold Palmer Days
  • Letters So Dear for our ’27s
  • Campus Day for Accepted Students (Part II)
  • Kudos to our Club Swim Team

It’s eclipse day! I will be on campus this afternoon to teach my class at 3:30, and I offered to meet my students outside from 3-3:25 if they want to see the eclipse with the eclipse glasses I had bought. Will let you know tomorrow what we saw.

We are not in the path of totality, but should get about 80% of it. Hopefully the clouds stay away and we get a good view. Fingers crossed.

And for your listening pleasure, my Gen X families, here’s some thematic listening for today 😛

Arnold Palmer Days

The Traditions Council shared information on their Instagram account about a cherised annual event: Arnold Palmer Days:

“It’s finally here! Arnold Palmer Days 2024! This year we’re excited to offer a virtual golf tournament on the @ultimategolfapp that will run until Friday. We’ll have AP themed trivia on Tuesday at @wfusu trivia night. Thursday we’ll have our Arnold Palmer Day celebration on Manchester Plaza from 11-2. We look forward to celebrating The King with all of campus!”

Letters So Dear for our ’27s

Every Monday is Letters So Dear day for our new students. For our P’27s, if you want to read the message to ’27s, you can see it here.

Campus Day for Accepted Students (Part II)

Today is the second of our Campus Day for Accepted Students events and I met a lot of nice families as they got their coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts this morning. In case you were a visiting family and didn’t stop by the Family Engagement table, here are the key things to know:

  • May 1st will be the launch of our New Students website with info for the Class of 2028 and our P’28 families. The info out there now is last year’s info for the Class of 2027.
  • Starting May 1st, ’28 students will get a weekly email from the Orientation and Transition Programs office (likely on Mondays), and all P’28 parents and families will get an email from me (likely on Tuesdays) with info you need to know.
  • All the key processes (class registration, housing, etc.) takes place after May 1st, so you aren’t behind on any critical to-dos right now.
  • Incoming students do not choose their own roommates (or buildings), so you don’t have to join any Instagram roommate-finder kind of app.
  • It’s important that we have an email address for all parents and families, as email is how we communicate with you. Be sure to visit our Incoming Families page and be sure to follow the instructions to verify your family record.

We look forward to getting to know all our P’28 families over the next four years! More info to come as of May 1st 🙂

Kudos to our Club Swim Team

A Daily Deac parent shared this good news with me:

“The Wake Forest Club Swim Team had twelve swimmers who qualified for and swam at the College Club Swimming National Championship this weekend (April 5-7) in Indianapolis. The swimmers represented the Deacs and competed against swimmers from over 100 colleges and universities from around the country. The Wake club swim team is entirely student-lead and student-coached. Photo of the swimmers at Nationals is attached.”

Congratulations to our Club Swim Team. Go Deacs!
