We were sad to see our Deacs’ postseason come to an end in the NIT last night. Our house watched a tremendous amount of basketball all weekend (and my bracket is pretty busted at this point) but you gotta love college basketball in March.

While men’s basketball ends its season, there’s still a lot of great Wake Forest sports to look forward to (highly-ranked men’s tennis, baseball, women’s golf), and we are always, always proud of our student-athletes. Whether they win or lose on the field of play, they are winning at learning, discerning how to live lives of meaning and purpose, *and* being elite athletes.

It’s a cold start to the week, but the sun is shining and that’s good news. Let’s get to it!

Wake ‘N Shake dance marathon totals

Saturday was Wake ‘N Shake, our 12 hour dance marathon that raises money for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund. It is always a high energy day, with lots of fun moments. And this is a particularly meaningful event, as sadly all of us know someone we love who has/has had cancer.

Thank you to all our dancers, student leaders/organizers, and donors for making a huge difference for cancer research. See the total raised below, as well as this photostory.

Wake 'N Shake 2024 raised $313,052.41 for cancer research

Housing selection info – current students

As current students (i.e., ’27, ’26, ’25, etc.) begin housing selection, I wish them all the best. Encourage them to use the Residence Life and Housing help desk (they should see their email from Friday) as needed.

Housing info – P’28s

While there has been a lot of talk about housing selection in the Daily Deac lately, you should know that information only pertains to currently-enrolled students (i.e., ’24s-’27s) and not your incoming ’28 students.

Incoming ’28 students do not select their own housing or roommate. Their housing assignments are made based on their answers to the Housing and Dining Agreement, which they won’t be able to access until after the New Students website goes live in May. In the interim, if you want to see a little bit about the new student housing process, visit the Residence Life and Housing website for official information. And I always like to offer this caveat: it is always best to go to official websites or offices for info, rather than rely on word of mouth from other families or students, as processes sometimes change from year to year.

Letters So Dear for our ’27s

As we share every Monday, here is this week’s Letters So Dear that was sent to our ’27s.
