Today I have some announcements, as well as a few tidbits that were shared with me by campus partners.

Is your Deac staying on campus for Spring Break?

Spring Break starts this Saturday, though I strongly suspect some of our students will get a jump on it and leave sooner than that 🙂 Campus does not close during Spring Break, but we do shift hours of operation for many of our functions.

If your Deac will be staying on campus over Spring Break, they will want to consult our Spring Break hours website to make sure they know what is open when, and how to plan ahead for their needs, particularly for dining, as hours and locations will vary.

Workday Student for current students (’24-’28)

As of this morning, your student was able to begin using Workday Student to prepare for advising and course registration, and starting in July, their financial information will be in Workday, too.

You may receive an email this week from WFU Workday with the subject line Proxy Account Information saying an account has been set up for you in Workday. That’s because your student is giving you access to information, which may include the ability to see and pay bills. Note that parents and families will continue to use DEAC to pay any remaining spring or summer balances, but starting in July, you will only use Workday. Watch for more information from Student Financial Services in the coming weeks.

Are you going to be in Venice this spring or summer?

I got this announcement below from one of my friends of the arts at WFU. Sadly my spring and summer plans do not include Venice, but if your family has travel plans related to the Venice Biennale, you won’t want to miss this:

“Hanes Gallery Director Paul Bright, with the artist Dread Scott and WFU alum Cristin Tierney, is very pleased to be organizing the artist’s ll African People’s Consulate (AAPC) project at this year’s Venice Biennale.

If you happen to find yourself in Venice between April 20 and the end of September, please come by the AAPC at the Castello Gallery, not far from the Giardini where you’ll see much of the rest of the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. The project is among those officially selected by Biennale curator Adriano Pedrosa, which take place at sites throughout Venice. For more information click here.”

ACC Cyclying road race

I also heard from a well-placed source that the WFU Club Cycling team hosted its first ACC cycling road race this past weekend, and that it was a great success. Apparently we haven’t hosted in 12 years. You can see more about it on the WFU Club Cycling Instagram.
