We’re almost at the end of the week. Here are a few things to know this Thursday.

Crosswalk installation to begin at Long Drive, University Parkway intersection

I am happy to report the following breaking news this afternoon:

“The Winston-Salem Department of Transportation will begin installing a pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of Long Drive and University Parkway next week. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, Feb. 12, and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete. The pedestrian crosswalk is the culmination of ongoing work with state and local officials to improve safety in this area.”

Undergraduate Pre-Law Program

Have you always wondered what it takes to be a lawyer? Or maybe you’re fascinated by how the legal system works? Perhaps you just want to get a sense of what it’s like to attend law school? Whatever the reason, the Wake Forest Law Undergraduate Pre-Law Program is a great way to gain a realistic understanding of the law, the legal profession, and life as a law student.

The program is offered during Summer Session 1, May 29-July 3. The Undergraduate Pre-Law Program consists of two courses that are taught at the Law School, but qualify for undergraduate course credit.*

Wake Women’s Weekend

I hope the ladies within the Daily Deacdom already know this, but we’d love to have you join us for Wake Womens Weekend. Though the planners of the weekend are from the Office of Alumni Engagement, this event is open to parents and families, not just alumni!

“Reconnect with old friends and form new friendships. Spark your creativity during an arts-focused weekend. Learn something new (about yourself and Wake Forest). Arrive to campus early for an optional pre-conference professional development track, then we’ll kick off the weekend in downtown Winston-Salem with a special keynote. On Saturday, explore all that the arts have to offer at Wake Forest.”

My colleagues organizing the event want you to know that moms/stepmoms/grandmothers/etc. of current Wake Forest students are welcome. Parents/family members will need to register for themselves at the Wake Women’s Weekend website. And an added bonus: if you would like your current WFU female student to attend with you for free, please email alumni@wfu.edu with your name and your student’s name so she can be added to your registration for free.

Upcoming deadlines related to 2024-25 housing selection

The Office of Residence Life and Housing sent this message to students about upcoming deadlines related to 2024-25 housing selection. I know we have some incoming P’28 families already in the Daily Deacdom; please note that these deadlines only apply to current students (’24s-’27s). Our incoming student housing process takes place over the summer (more to come on that after May 1).

Demon Divas video

Some of my colleagues captured this video of our pitch perfect Demon Divas. Enjoy! We’ll be rooting for them in their next competition in March!
