Classes just started yesterday, so this is going to feel like a short week for your Deacs, and I imagine that they’ll be pretty happy about that. After such a long winter break, it might feel better to ease in gently to a new semester with just 3 days of classes before the weekend 🙂

It’s been a busy day for me, so just a few quick bits to share:

WFU in the News

Are there any other bagel lovers in the Daily Deacdom (or is it just me?) I saw this in the most recent WFU in the News and thought you might enjoy this:

“Ever wonder why bagels sold at the grocery store are only partially sliced? Marketing professor Roger Beahm told Marketplace that ‘partially slicing allows the bagel to retain more of its freshness than if it were sliced completely through. With less of the bagel’s interior surface exposed, the inside freshness can remain longer, especially once the package has been opened.’”

You can read this and other brief highlights of recent University media coverage in WFU in the news: Jan. 1-14.

Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority recruitment events

I got a message yesterday from the sisters of Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority about their upcoming recruitment events: Monday, Jan. 22 and Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 6:45-8 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 26 from 3-4:15 p.m.; all events will be in Benson 343.

If your student is looking for a sorority affiliation, they are invited to get to know Delta Xi Phi and join in the recruitment info sessions and fun activities. Note: interested students must attend at least one event to be eligible for recruitment.

Message from the Office of Residence Life and Housing

Yesterday, the Office of Residence Life and Housing sent this message to resident students; it covers occupancy verification, how to create facilities work orders, and information about 24-25 housing selection for current students (to our P’28s, your incoming Deacs will receive their housing assignments in late July).

Letters So Dear for ’27s

Our ’27 students received their first issue of Letters So Dear yesterday on FDOC (the First Day of Class).

If you enjoyed yesterday’s Five Senses of Wake Up Wednesday, you might enjoy taking a peek at the photo gallery of the students enjoying coffee and treats and getting their pictures made with the posters. It was fun for me to read what the students’ favorite memories are, and what they are most looking forward to.
