Yesterday was Pitsgiving for the students, and if you didn’t see this video recap on Instagram, here you go!

Today was Pitsgiving for faculty and staff (we were in the Mag Room today). It’s fair to say there are a number of us walking around this afternoon delightfully stuffed with delicious food (and maybe even a turkey coma). Hats off to Deacon Dining for taking such good care of our campus!

Presidential address

In case you missed it, Dr. Wente gave her annual presidential address yesterday. You can read the transcript here, or watch the recording (at the bottom of the page).

How to buy a Howler yearbook

I mentioned the new round of senior portraits in yesterday’s blog, and a parent asked me how to purchase yearbooks. Here are those instructions:

  • Anyone can buy a yearbook! To purchase the 2023-24 edition of The Howler, follow these steps:

  • Enter 13941 in the box under “Order Number” and click Continue
  • Click on “Order a Yearbook”
  • Enter your desired quantities and click “Continue”
  • Fill out all required information.
  • Continue to checkout.

Upcoming holiday traditions for your Deacs

Shortly after the Thanksgiving break, there will be a couple of great ring-in-the-holidays campus traditions that your students should mark their calendars for:

  • Lighting of the Quad, Tuesday, Nov. 28, 7:30 p.m. on Hearn Plaza (the Quad). Join the Wake Forest Community for Lighting of the Quad. The event will include music, stories, and celebrations from the various communities at Wake Forest.
  • Wake Forest Lovefeast, Sun., Dec. 3, 7:00 p.m. in Wait Chapel. Let it glow, let it glow, let it glow! It’s a Wake Forest tradition to usher in the holidays with our annual candlelight service. Since 1965, we have gathered as a campus community for seasonal music, reflection and inspirational readings. Chapel doors open at 6 p.m., and the prelude begins at 6:40 p.m.

And in case you need a visual of how beautiful the Lovefeast is, here are a few pictures from Lovefeasts past.

Wake Forest holds its annual Lovefeast ceremony in Wait Chapel on Sunday, December 8, 2019. The Lovefeast is a traditional Moravian service, and has been held at Wake Forest for more than 50 years. Lovefeast

Most beautiful campuses in NC

To the surprise of no one, Wake features prominently in this list of Most Beautiful Campuses in NC list 🙂

Sports news of note

There are a couple of items in sporting news today:

  • Men’s soccer earns 13th straight NCAA Tournament appearance: The Demon Deacons will open the 2023 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship with a first-round bye, then face the winner of Indiana vs. Lipscomb on Sunday afternoon at Spry Stadium.
  • Men’s cross country in NCAA Championships: For the fourth consecutive season, the Wake Forest men’s cross country program has earned a bid to the NCAA Championships. The championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Va., and will be televised at 9:30 a.m. on ESPNU.

We’ll close with a pre-Thanksgiving funny below 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend, Daily Deacdom!

I don't know who needs to hear this today....move the frozen turkey to the fridge
