Second Summer had its last hurrah yesterday. We woke up to Actual Fall: around 40 degrees and drizzly, with a freeze warning for tonight, which is a bummer for any little kids (or our Deacs!) who planned to trick or treat tonight in costumes.

I looked ahead in the forecast and it looks like the hottest it will get in the next two weeks is 73 degrees. Maybe Actual Fall is finally here to stay?

the 12 seasons of NC. We are in "Actual Fall"

Congrats to the men’s soccer team!

In case you missed it, there was some good news this weekend from men’s soccer:

“For the fifth time in the last nine seasons, Wake Forest men’s soccer (11-1-5, 4-1-3 ACC) has claimed the ACC’s Atlantic Division title as the Demon Deacons earned a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Louisville (9-3-3, 2-4-2 ACC) on Friday night at the Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.

The result secures the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament, as Wake Forest has earned a first-round bye and will host a quarterfinals match at Spry Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 5.”

Go Deacs!

Reminder: Daymond John and Face to Face tomorrow

We are excited that Daymond John of FUBU and Shark Tank fame will be with us tomorrow for another Face to Face. Your students will be able to attend the student-led event at 5 p.m. in Wait Chapel; details here. Please encourage your Deacs to attend. The student events are always particularly interesting, and there are typically fewer people than in the 7:30 keynote address, so it feels like a more intimate conversation (at least to me).

For P’27s: Weekly Message and ’27s’ Letters So Dear

Our ’27s received their weekly issue of Letters So Dear yesterday, and we published a new Weekly Message for First Year Families. This week’s message is about the Honor Code.

Some fun: Halloween costumes through the years

As I drove onto campus this morning, I saw a couple of students in costume. One had a cow onesie on, the other was wearing a headband with animal ears on it. Good for them to be in the spirit of the day!

So in honor of Halloween tonight, here are some pics of some of the costumes students have worn over the years. Have a safe and spooky night!
