Today is Project Pumpkin! From 3-6 pm on the Quad, hundreds of local children will be joining us for trick-or-treating, Halloween-themed activities, and other fun that your students have dreamed up for the kiddos. And the weather today is absolutely perfect for Project Pumpkin: 70 degrees with a few clouds. I don’t know if you will be able to get much of a look at the festivities via the Quad Cam, but you can give it a try. This is truly one of the most fun days of the whole year.

In other happy news, after a terrific road win against Boston College, Wake is now ranked 10th in the AP football poll, which is really an incredible thing to see. This means we now are bowl eligible, and there is a new Bowl Central website which is your one stop shop for all bowl information, including joining an interest list for when bowl tickets go on sale. Go Deacs!

In academic news, Academic Resources Awareness Week (ARAW) is this week, Oct 24-28. The purpose of ARAW is to increase awareness for academic resources on campus and normalize their use. To celebrate ARAW, the wonderful team from CLASS (Center for Learning, Access, and Student Success) is hosting CLASS Café tomorrow (Wednesday, October 26th) from 3:30-5 p.m. Encourage your Deacs to drop by the Quad right outside the CLASS office (on the corner of Reynolda Hall closest to Kitchin Hall) tomorrow to enjoy seasonal treats and fun conversation about academic resources.

With registration for spring classes coming up next week, I always like to remind students to check for any holds on their registration status before registration (I’d check now, and then check again a day or so before registration just to be sure). You don’t want to find out you have a hold right as you are going to register! Students can see their time tickets for registration on this website (and in the registration portal too). Note that first-year students are assigned at random since almost all have 0 earned hours.

Speaking of first-year students, our P’26s might want to know that Letters So Dear went out to our ’26 students on Monday, and we also have a new Weekly Message for First Year Families, which is about registration. Note to P’26s: we do not mail out these weekly messages to you; we share them here in the Daily Deac, or you can bookmark this site and look for a new post each Monday throughout the fall.

Hope your Deacs are enjoying this great weather and will enjoy Project Pumpkin this afternoon!
