Yesterday I shared the ABCs of Commencement, and I got a very good question from a reader about what “bag check” means. I definitely could have been clearer on that. What I meant by “bag check” is that bags will be searched at entrance points to ensure that no one brings prohibited items to events (not unlike what you do when going to a concert or a major sporting event). It is not a “check” like a coat check where you leave it there and pick it up later. So know your purse or bag will be searched, but you will be able to keep it with you.
For Deacs looking to do something this weekend, the Office of Wellbeing, CARE Team, CSSA (Chinese Students and Scholars Association), and WTA (Wake the Arts) is offering a Wellbeing and Tea eventon Saturday at 3 pm in the Wellbeing Center room A330. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about our wellbeing resources, get some tips and tricks to have before finals, and enjoy bubble tea. See more at their flyer.
The Office of Residence Life and Housing sent the following messageto resident students about things they need to be thinking about and doing as they plan to move out of the residence halls. Students should follow the instructions in the move-out hub to ensure they have moved out properly.
As finals approach, there will be 24 hour quiet hours in the residence halls. These quiet hours will begin on Friday, April 29th at 5 pm and will end on Sunday, May 8th.
A couple other notes about finals: your Deacs should keep an eye on the ZSR website for information about Wake the Library (and follow their social media accounts for info about the foods/activities/giveaways that might happen on a given day). In addition, we have a robust Wake Study Spacewebsite to help students locate spaces to study.
One news item to note: the planned accreditation assessment of the Wake Forest University Police Department by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) will not take place as scheduled. Instead of beginning on April 23, the assessment has been rescheduled.
It’s a gorgeous day today (as seen on a screen grab from our beloved Quad Cambelow). Sunny and low 80s, with a fantastic forecast for the weekend. May your Deacs enjoy every glorious minute of this weather.
