We are still riding the high of Dr. Wente’s inauguration last Friday. My talented colleagues produced this terrific photostory that captured the best of the festivities. In case you missed the ceremony, you can watch the video or read her inauguration address.

In her address, Dr. Wente announced a bold goal that by the end of 2022, we will raise the funds needed to support 100 new scholarships. This will be called the For Humanity initiative. On Monday, our head football coach, Dave Clawson, along with his wife Catherine made a $250,000 gift to create a new scholarship. The Dave and Catherine Clawson Scholarship will benefit any undergraduate student with a preference for those who help Wake Forest achieve and sustain the diversity of the student body, first-generation students, and students from the Piedmont Triad. Go Deacs!

On Saturday, admissions decisions were released for Regular Decision students admitted into the Class of 2026, who will start at Wake Forest this fall. Congratulations to all! If you are a newly-accepted parent or family member, we proudly welcome you as a P’26 (parent/family member of the Class of 2026). We ask all new P’26s to visit our Incoming Student page, which has information for new families. Of special importance is having all our new P’26 families admitted Regular Decision verify their family record in Wake Network so we can ensure we have correct contact information for you.

Tonight your Deacs can take part in some of our Women’s History Month programming by attending the screening of I’m a Woman, Phenomenally, a 50-minute documentary by Parker Beverly (’23) that explores the history of women at Wake Forest. This takes place at 7 pm today (3/29) in the Kulynych Auditorium of the Porter Byrum Welcome Center. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.

Or your Deacs can attend a roundtable discussion on “How effective are economic sanctions?” This will also be held tonight (3/29) at 7pm in the ZSR Library, Rm 404. Panelists include Dr. Mark Vail, Politics & Intl Affairs, Dr. Susan Rupp, History, and Dr. Ali Zeytoon-Nejad, Business, with moderator Dr. Adam Kadlac, Philosophy.

CLASS (Center for Learning, Access, and Student Success) is hosting one of their CLASS Cafés tomorrow (March 30th) from 3:30-5 pm on the Quad. Your Deacs can join faculty and staff for conversation and seasonal treats.

The Wake Forest University Theatre will close its 2021-2022 season with the musical She Loves Me, which will be directed by Professor of Theatre J.K. Curry. She Loves Me is a charmingly old school, full orchestra musical about trying to find a perfect match in an imperfect world. Based on Miklós László’s play Parfumerie, this warm and intimate romantic comedy is set in 1930s Budapest and speaks to the timeless challenge of finding true love. Show dates are April 1-2 and 7-9, 2022 at 7:30 pm, and April 3 and 10, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Tedford Stage, Scales Fine Arts Center; tickets are are $15 adults, $12 senior citizens, and $7 students (price includes sales tax).

For our P’25 families, your ’25 Deacs got their weekly issue of Letters So Dear yesterday. As a reminder, you can read the Letters So Dear archive for past issues.

Residence Life and Housing sent this message to resident students about opportunities for Summer Housing on campus. Note that students applying for Summer Housing need to be engaged with the University (e.g., academics, athletics, employment, research).

Last but not least today: see WFU in the News: March 21-27 for brief highlights of Wake Forest faculty, staff and students who have recently been featured in the media.
