Happy Monday, Deac families. This past weekend was a great time to be outdoors. It was in the mid to upper 70s, begging the question “Are we in Second Summer, or Actual Fall?” 😉 The good weather will continue until close to Thanksgiving: my quick look at the 14 day forecast on the Weather Channel app says our highs will be 60-75 degrees. Weather like this is why I decided to go to college in the South, and why I live here still.

As your Deacs think about prepping to go home in just a couple of weeks, there is a new textile recovery machineTextile Recovery station available on campus where students can drop off unwanted clothes:

Looking for a sustainable way to get rid of any unwanted clothes, towels, and other textiles before heading home at Thanksgiving? Drop them off in any of the four Green Zone Bins now located in the following campus buildings:

    • Luter
    • Polo
    • Benson
    • North Campus Dining
  • Green Zone is a U.S. company helping communities divert unwanted textiles from the landfill by upcycling them into reusable goods or redirecting them to second-hand markets.

It’s Monday, so that means we have a new Weekly Message for First-Year Families; this week’s iteration for P’24s is about having your Deacs home again. Our ’24 students also got their issue of Letters So Dear.

On the horizon for next week is TurkeyPalooza. Each November, Campus Kitchen celebrates TurkeyPalooza by preparing scratch-made turkey dinners for its community partners in celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday. Your Deacs can check out Campus Kitchen on the Link.
