NOTE: our Wake Parents and Families e-newsletters went out today with an error. Classes resume on January 14th, not January 17th. We apologize for the error.

Sometime before the snowstorm hit, I wrote a post about career discernment for Wake students in regards to externship opportunities. With career discernment in mind, I wanted to spread the word about opportunities for high school students here at Wake Forest.

The Summer Immersion Program is a wonderful opportunity for high school students to experience a career pathway or potential major at Wake Forest for a week allowing them some additional insight or clarity about their future. The application is currently live for any interested high school students (including incoming first-year students starting college). The Summer Immersion Program is also a great holiday gift for any high school student interested in one of the fields below (or Wake Forest in general).

2019 Institutes:

  • Biosciences & Engineering
  • Business
  • Dance
  • Debate & Public Advocacy
  • Documentary Film
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Health & Exercise Science
  • Health & Wellbeing
  • Law
  • Leadership
  • Medicine
  • Neuroscience
  • Policy & Politics
  • Psychology
  • Sports Marketing

  • Technology
  • Visual Arts

Apply online here

These Summer Institutes can be an incredible way for high schoolers to get a taste of college, to become familiar with the ways college campuses are laid out, and can  be great prep for them to get ready for college. It also provides them with structured learning opportunities and the ability to learn to manage themselves and their time – skills they will definitely need once they reach college.
