ICYDMI (in case your Deacs missed it), today is the flu shot clinic. The flu clinic is being held from noon to 7 pm in the Wellbeing Center Living Room of Reynolds Gym. Here is some information that the Student Health Service provided to our office:

According to the CDC, “The Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The best way to prevent flu is by getting a flu vaccine each year.”  The Student Health Service is encouraging the entire Wake Forest community to get a flu vaccine this year to help protect themselves, their friends and families.  It’s especially important for students with health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, kidney or liver disorders, and weakened immune systems to get an annual flu vaccine.

Wake Forest has partnered again this year with Maxim Healthcare to bring a student flu vaccine clinic to campus.

Quadrivalient  Flu vaccines will be given on Wednesday, October 3rd from 12:00-7:00pm in the Wellbeing Center Living room within the Reynolds Gym.  The cost of the vaccine is $30 which can be paid by cash or check.  Students who wish to pay by credit card can purchase vouchers for $33.00 at the Welcome desk in the Wellbeing Center.  Many insurance cards will also be accepted.

Please encourage your students to think seriously about getting the flu vaccine. I have seen the flu go through campus before (and have gotten it myself), and there is nothing quite so miserable as being too sick to go to class and worrying about all the work you are missing.

Note: we know there will be students who cannot make it to today’s clinic. Students can go to the Student Health Service (they do a walk-in clinic), and they will also be giving flu vaccines in the ZSR library on October 17, 24, November 1 and 7 from 5:00-7:00 pm.
