Musician Branford MarsalisTonight is an incredible opportunity for your students – to hear from 3 time Grammy winner Branford Marsalis. He will be performing in Wait Chapel tonight as part of the Secrest Artists Series. This is a free event for students with their student ID – and I can promise them they will never again be able to go to a Branford Marsalis concert for nothing.  A well-placed source said this of the concert: “we expect a sell-out crowd in Wait Chapel for the Branford Marsalis concert tonight. To assure yourself of a seat, please come early! Even better, come before the concert at 6:30 to hear Branford Marsalis in conversation with our own Ali Sakkal of the Education Department, on the stage of Wait Chapel.” This is one of those Wake smorgasbord items I hope your Deacs don’t pass by.

There are a couple other smorgasbord bites worth mentioning.

Family Business course flyerWith course registration coming up soon, I had a student email me to talk about a class she had taken and very much enjoyed. It is ESE 305: Family Business Dynamics. For any students whose family has their own business, this is a class that could help them explore the pros and cons of working for the family business, how to manage conflict, and more. Details in the graphic.

For any Deacs who are going to graduate in May and are looking for their first gig after Wake Forest, here is an option to consider:

Business is everywhere and Wake Forest Biz will help you master it. We have a few seats left in our Specialized Masters programs in Management, Business Analytics and Accounting. Our intensive, accelerated experiences are designed to help recent college graduates gain a career in a job they love in just 10 months. You are invited to join us for Moe’s and a brief presentation on Monday, March 26th at 6:00pm in Farrell Hall, Classroom 157  to learn more about our graduate experiences, as well as Q&A with the admissions team. There will be prizes too! RSVP here. We offer accelerated admissions  and merit/need scholarships for Double Deacs. See you on Monday!

Finally, there is a scholarship opportunity to mention, for a couple of reasons: 1) if your student might be a candidate for this award, and/or 2) if you feel passionately about wanting to provide some type of scholarship for our students, let us know.

Wake Forest University is pleased to announce the Chinuntdet-Crowe Leadership Scholarship.  John Chinuntdet ‘88 and his wife, Tonya Crowe-Chinuntdet ‘88, have established an annual scholarship of $4000 which will be awarded to an upperclass student (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) who has excelled in campus leadership at the university.  Applicants should be students in good standing with the university, who have demonstrated “leadership skills by extensive involvement in, and leadership of, student organizations recognized by Wake Forest.” The application deadline is Friday, March 30th, 2018, and the recipient will be recognized on Tuesday, April 24th at the SOAR Awards. The scholarship criteria and application can be found at Chinuntdet-Crowe Scholarship Application. For more information or questions, please contact Dexter Sharp at sharpbd@wfu.edu or Tim Wilkinson at wilkts@wfu.edu.
