What Employers Look for, You Can Get from Being an Intramural Referee

The following information was provided by Campus Recreation

What if I told you becoming an intramural sports referee can help your child land their dream job? Becoming an intramural sports referee or scorekeeper has its benefits that most don’t think about. Sure your child will stay engaged in sports they played in high school. Of course it can help them accomplish their fitness goals by keeping them in shape. But there are certain qualities and skills that future employers are looking for in recent graduates that can be acquired by throwing on those stripes and blowing the whistle! Just to name a few, by working for Wake Forest Intramurals, your child will learn and develop:

  1. Communication Skills
  2. Interpersonal Skills
  3. Team Oriented
  4. Decision Making / Problem Solving Skills
  5. The ability to sell and influence others

Many referees go on to become lawyers, business professionals, and even medical professionals. Looking for a way to set your child apart from other applicants? Become an intramural sports referee! go.wfu.edu/sportsofficials

If Your Student Has a Problem

One of the best ways parents/families can help their students is to let them solve their own problems. Use the Stop, Drop, and Roll method when your student contacts you with a problem.  The flyer also lists contact information for serious concerns where family intervention might be appropriate.
