On Wednesday, August 11, students studying abroad this fall with WFU-sponsored programs received an email with specifics on their WFU program; the message below is an example of what WFU Barcelona students received.

If your Deac is studying abroad this fall on a WFU program, you can check with them to see details of their specific program, or check the Study Abroad website for COVID updates.

Dear WFU/Barcelona Students,

Please carefully read this email and all links as they contain important information and actions that must be taken. Also, share this information with your family and support systems. A copy will be sent to the contacts you have provided to us as part of your study abroad application.

  1. Action Item: Read the entry requirements for Spain. This information contains detailed instructions on the steps you must take in order to be able to enter Spain (as they stand today). These requirements are time-sensitive and have to be taken during a specified timeframe. Next week’s email will contain reminders of the required steps and the deadlines. Your pre-arrival requirements are as follows:
    1. Complete the online Health Control Form on Spain Travel Health Portal site to obtain your QR code. This is a two-step process with steps for you to complete now and steps that must be completed within 48 hours (2 days) left before your arrival in Spain.
    2. Make sure you have your official CDC Vaccination Card (completely filled out). Guard it as you would your passport!
  2. Action Item: Check with your airline to see if they require a negative Covid test result. Before allowing you to board your international flight, some airlines require a negative Covid test result. If they do, then you will need to make arrangements to obtain a PCR test (results 72 hours prior to arriving in Spain) or Antigen test (results 48 hours prior to arriving in Spain).
  3. Action Item: Read the program-specific protocols. These protocols are ones which all program participants must follow throughout the semester abroad.
  4. Action Item: Read the “Personal/Independent Travel Policy” for study abroad: This policy outlines the policy and procedures that will apply to all personal/independent travel during your time abroad.
  5. Action Item: Complete this form now to acknowledge your receipt of and understanding of the aforementioned documents.

Lastly, next week you will receive email notification of your enrollment in the GeoBlue international health insurance. This a comprehensive plan that will provide coverage for the duration of your semester abroad. Similarly, next week you will receive notification of your enrollment in WFU’s travel risk management service – WorldAware/crisis24.

We know this is quite a bit of information to digest, so please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. Continue to check your WFU email regularly and stay on top of all action items and other pre-departure preparations.

Please know everyone associated with the Barcelona program is preparing for your upcoming arrivals and is eager to welcome you to Spain in just a few weeks!

Best,

Jessica
