The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook advisory for Monday that includes the Wake Forest locations in Winston-Salem, Charlotte and Washington, D.C. Hazardous weather may include strong, possibly damaging winds, a chance of tornadoes, lightning and hail. Please stay alert and be prepared for hazardous weather conditions to possibly occur tomorrow.

All University operations will take place as scheduled. Wake Forest will continue to monitor the weather and will use the Wake Alert emergency notification system to communicate operational changes. Program directors in Charlotte and Washington, D.C., may communicate directly with their constituents about operational changes if weather conditions differ from Winston-Salem.

In the event of severe weather:

  • Seek shelter indoors immediately in a sturdy building if severe weather is approaching.

  • Stay away from windows, glass doors, and exterior walls.

  • Avoid open areas such as fields, quads, and outdoor facilities during storms.

  • Postpone travel until conditions improve, especially during heavy rain or strong winds.

In a weather emergency, the University shares information and updates through the Wake Alert emergency notification system to communicate with students, faculty and staff.

For updates, visit wakealert.wfu.edu and monitor local weather services.
