The Wake Forest Ethics Team took home top honors in the North Carolina Ethics Bowl held Feb. 10-11 at Meredith College in Raleigh.

This was the first year for the North Carolina Ethics Bowl, sponsored by the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU).

The Wake Forest Ethics Team is comprised of undergraduate students from a variety of major fields of study.   Team members who represented the school in the North Carolina Ethics Bowl included Louis Brotherton (the Team Captain) (’12), George Bader (’15), Emily Bryant (’15), Kevin Cirronella (’14), Nick Cohen (’12), and Patrick Kelly (’12).

“Our team made me very proud.  The theme of this competition was ‘Ethics in the Workplace’ and our students participated in some very close rounds as all of the teams struggled with some profound ethical dilemmas that face businesses and organizations every day.  The Wake Forest team demonstrated exceptional command of ethics, philosophy and public policy as well as the skills needed to frame compelling and logically sound arguments,” said Charles Lankau, Ethics Team Faculty Advisor and Professor of Practice at Wake Forest University Schools of Business.

In November, the Wake Forest Ethics Team qualified to compete in the National Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl on March 1 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The North Carolina Ethics Bowl, which is sponsored by the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU), was conducted this past Friday and Saturday at Meredith College.

Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl teams receive a set of ethical issues cases in advance to prepare for the tournament.  During the competition, teams present their solutions to questions presented from the set of dilemmas and teams of three to five students also respond to impromptu questions from the panel of judges.
