This message is sent on behalf of Jonathan Lee Walton, Dean of Wake Forest University School of Divinity and Wait Chapel.

Easter marks a time of renewal and rebirth. This year especially, we reflect on all that has been lost and look ahead in hopeful anticipation. Easter beckons us to consider both the fragility of life and the stubborn resilience of hope. As we look forward to a return to campus and a semblance of pre-pandemic normalcy, I am reminded that there can be no resurrection without sacrifice. Our students, faculty, and staff have sacrificed and lost so much this year. Yet the budding of spring and celebration of Easter can both remind us of the promise of renewal and hope that blooms eternal.

Wait Chapel invites you to join us as we celebrate the Easter season with a virtual service on April 4, 2021, at 8 a.m. The service will stream at divinity.wfu.edu/Easter and on the School of Divinity’s Facebook page and YouTube.

This special service incorporates musical collaborations by the University Chamber Choir, accompanied by the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra and conducted by Dr. Christopher Gilliam, assistant professor and director of choral activities. The University Gospel Choir, conducted by Golden Globe and Oscar nominee Joshuah Brian Campbell, will also perform. Campbell is a composer best known for his award-nominated composition “Stand Up” written for the film “Harriet.”
